Music and Dance Night
MUSIC & DANCE NIGHT
I take a part in our school's traditional ''Music and Dance Night''. Our teachers asked me to prepare a dance in a group of six with two kinds of music which are ''One_Ane Brun'' and ''Ötme Bülbül''. Also, they asked me to prepare a solo dance with a music ''Olmasa Mektubun''.
The intended aim for this 'Music and Dance Night'' was collecting donations for cancerous children beside preparing a show for parents. I'm proud that I took part in such a good and professional organization.
Getting ready for that show took my two months. In the first month, I worked to find the best dancers in my school. Then, I had problems like some of them told me that they won't come to Istanbul on 13th of June. Therefore, I started to look for other dancers and I took a while for me.
At last, I found my dance group and I started to stay at school and create a choreography for the music that had given to us. It didn't take me long to prepare a choreography but I had to find a choreography that everyone in my group would be able to do. Also, there had to be a movement that should show the stage full and energetic. After I created choreographies, I call my dance group and we started to work on. As our music performed by the school choir, we recognized some changes in music that effects our choreography. As there wasn't much time to make changes, even we get nervous at first, we come through that unlucky situation.
Through this organization, I feel that I really developed myself. If we look at this development from the perspective of IB student;
IB Learner Profile:
Thinkers: I used my critical thinking in unexpected situations as I lost some of my dancers through getting ready for the big night. Also, we made quick, professional changes when the music wasn't as we prepared our choreography. Besides critical thinking, I used my creative thinking through preparing a choreography.
Communicators: The most important part of being a leader of a group is being good at communication. I had a good, professional communication with both my teachers and friends. Therefore, things went fast and easy. We tried our best to understand each side in bad situations but everything resulted very great. I collaborated effectively by listening carefully to the perspectives of other individuals and groups.
Principled: I acted with integrity and honesty with a strong sense of fairness and justice. I was fair between my dancers. I listened to all their recommendations and problems. Also, I tried to put them in front of the dance to be fair.
Open-minded: The music that I had my solo dance was aiming to unite two continent (Greek and Turkey). It was something special for me in a way I was a metaphor of letter that has a specialty of unite two sides.
Caring: I show empathy, compassion, and respect. We have a commitment to service, and we act to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Our school provided us a chance to show commitment in social responsibility project. Collected donation for cancer children (KAÇUV).
Balanced: We showed respect for our physical and emotional differences, created our choreography according to that situation.
Reflective: We work to understand our strengths and weaknesses in order to support our learning and personal development.
